measuring harness size

Each one of the harnesses is adjustable. But we do offer three sizes so you do have to measure your pet behind the front legs to get a harness that is close to the right size. Small 7” to 9”, Medium 10”to 12”, Large 13” to 15”. Then it can be adjusted to a perfect fit. We took a photo to illustrate the proper way of measuring. Measure with a cloth tape behind the front legs and slide your finger under the tape to allow for some room. Because of the unique design, the harness need not be tight. We recommend choosing the next size up if you determine your bunny’s measurement falls in-between the sizes we offer. There are complete instructions on how to do the adjusting that come with each harness and lead set. Exchanges are free.

A note about the colors we offer.

There are five colors to personalize your Harness and Lead line. So you can choose a color that suits your bunny’s personality. Also consider the environment that you will be spending your time in and how much freedom that Bunny will have. If you stay in your own yard or maybe go to the park then bright colors are not as crucial because there is plenty of open space. On the other hand if adventure is being considered. Along with a measure of freedom for Bunny to explore. Then a bright color should be your choice. My experience has shown that orange is the color that is best. It shows well in all environments.

CHOOSING A HAULER

We offer three sizes and two color combinations.

Haulers are completely hand made and have been thoroughly field tested for a lifetime of service. We offer three sizes so you can choose one that not only fits your bunny but also the type of environment that you will be enjoying. If you will be taking some aggressive hikes then you will want to consider the smallest Hauler that your bunny will be comfortable in. Smaller is better in two ways. A smaller blind spot so you can see the ground for footing. The other benefit is bunny won’t be shifting around as much.

A larger Hauler gives your bunny room to move around and change position. There is also more room for your hands if you want to comfort and secure your Bunny. This is especially nice to do when it is cold. So give it some thought before you place your order.

Features that are standard on all Bunny Haulers.

The base is made from wood and automotive carpet so it can be cleaned. The wood is treated with linseed oil to seal it from water and bunny won’t be hurt if they chew on it.

Two D rings bellow the upper strap mounts. To clip your lead line and umbrella. Or anything else you want to keep handy.

Unhook the two front chains with the spring clips, roll the back down, tuck the straps behind the Hauler and it serves as a car seat. Once your bunny gets use to this they won’t want to ride in the car with out it.

Two slip lock buckles at the bottom strap mounts so that the straps can be unbuckled for easier removal of the Hauler.

A lanyard with spring clip to secure your bunny to the hauler.

getting started

How to introduce your bunny to the Hauler.

Set your Bunny Hauler out in a comfortable environment and encourage your bunny to sit in it. If bunny starts to chew on the hauler, ( nerves energy ) just end the session and try later. After your bunny is comfortable sitting in it gently pick your bunny up in the hauler and walk around holding the hauler in front of you while talking to bunny this will help relax them. Next step put the Hauler on like a t-shirt. Over the head arms through the side. With the Harness on your bunny put them into the Hauler and clip the lanyard to the Harness. When this has been accomplished then you are ready for your first outing.

Things to remember on your first few outings.

Start by walking around your neighborhood. Walk in familiar places because the hauler blocks the view of where your feet are. So start walking on easy flat familiar terrain until you are accustomed to wearing your new Bunny Hauler.

Practice adjusting the sliders on the front straps. The hight of the carrier can be changed while you are walking. this can come in handy when on longer walks. The tilt of the bottom plate can also be adjusted while walking. If bunny is leaning too far over the front it is a good idea to bring the tilt up. Unhook the chain by sliding it through the key ring.

Always harness and clip the lanyard  to the harness to prevent any accidents. your bunny might want to jump or in tricky terrain sometimes your bunny can be dumped out the front of the hauler when you have to lean forward. This is one reason we recommend buying our harness when you buy the Bunny Hauler.
